Basic Activity of the organisation:
Kinship house is a children’s home and a shining example of successful child support initiative. It is managed by Kin Initiative, Reg. no 364 situated at Gganda-Busiro Wakiso district in Uganda, East Africa.
MISSION AND PURPOSE
The mission of kinship house is to serve the needs of poor, orphaned and less fortunate children, to equip them with skills, knowledge and opportunity so that they grow up to lead a normal life as responsible citizens.
Our mission statement is "To seek and help children in difficulty circumstances"
Our motto is "To be kind is to treat like a kin"

Your involvement will bring miracles both for children living at kinship house and those with guardians.
Whilst volunteering with us you will get to know Uganda and her warm friendly people and we will do our best to make you feel at home.

Kinship House has the following objectives in fulfilling its mission;
1. Provision of basic needs of shelter, food, love and security.
2. Facilitating nursery ,primary and secondary education for children (sponsorship)
3. Provide medicine and primary healthcare.
4. Providing skills in home economics, woodwork and agriculture skills for the personal development of the children.
5. Provision of educational, recreational and other social resources.
6. Cooperating with other organizations or persons whose aims are to provide kinship and support to less fortunate children.
PLACEMENT DETAILS
• What will the volunteers be doing?
At kinship house there a number of activities and projects that need volunteer assistance; -childcare,teaching skills such as farming,carpentry,drawing,cooking,sewing,musical
instruments..etc.
-teach in near by schools were our children go.
-help children stay clean by helping them in brushing thier teeth,shower,and personal hygiene.
-help children do home work.
-monitor academic progress and make sure kids complete next day home work.
-help in cooking,cleaning,garden work mostly when children have gone to school.
-visitng children staying with guardians not residing at kinship house.
-fundrising ideas and sponsorship drives for the children were possible.
-constuctions,and repires,painting.
-recreational initiatives;outings,play games,teach dance, songs,girls and boys scoutings,christian values,..etc.
-sports initiatives;football,table tennis,net ball..etc.
Volunteers are our next of kin and any new ideas or porojects and their implementations for the up lifting of the african child and kinship house are most welcome
• What is the maximum amount of time a volunteer can stay?
Less than a month is minimum.Three months is maximum.

No qualifications needed just the willingness to provide a support family for those children who are kinless

NB: A Host family is strongly recommended so that the volunteer can learn about local culture, local food, perhaps learn the local language or help a child in the family to learn spoken English

MALARIA – precautions should be taken – seek professional medical advice before departure.
